The Rooftop Lodge is bringing an ice-skating rink, hot tubs and fire pits to Surfers Paradise

In case you missed the memo aka the chilly forecast, winter is arriving on our doorsteps this week. To help kick off the season, Cali Beach is once again transforming into The Rooftop Lodge – a winter wonderland activation in the heart of Surfers Paradise complete with an ice-skating rink, hot tubs and faux snow.

If you’ve ever spent time in Whistler, Mayrhofen or Val-d’Isère, you’ll know that after a day on the slopes, those towns know how to party. While the Gold Coast has definitely got the party part down pat, we don’t see any snow in these parts. That is – until now. This winter will see snow falling in Surfers Paradise at Cali Beach, as it transforms into one of the biggest winter activations ever seen in Australia. On Saturday June 3, the mega lifestyle and entertainment precinct will reveal its spectacular $350,000-makeover to become The Rooftop Lodge – an après ski-inspired pop-up bringing a proper winter to the Gold Coast until the end of August.

Every inch of the rooftop venue has been overhauled to create The Rooftop Lodge, featuring an alpine forest of more than 60 snow-topped trees, fire pits, hot tubs, and an ice-skating rink – there will even be faux snow falling throughout the venue! For those looking for some belly-warming eats, a line-up of market stalls will be slinging a sizzling selection of charcuterie boards, fondues, as well as marshmallows to roast by the fires. Dine-in bookings are also available at the View Deck, where guests can dig in to a mouth-watering menu alongside a range of toasty tipples like the Snowball Martini, Elsa Slushy or Lit Cocoa.

If you’re keen to dial up the luxury and keep warm in style, The Rooftop Lodge has partnered with Veuve Clicquot for Clicquot in the Snow – an exclusive (and very cosy) igloo experience for you and up to six friends. This experience includes express entry, a bottle of Veuve Clicquot, food platters, and a signature winter cocktail for each guest for $350. Similarly, Cali’s iconic cabanas will be converted into luxury alpine lodges with Swiss ski village-themed facades, fire pits and decor. They even come complete with hot tubs! These VIP cabanas are ideal for groups of up to 25 people, and can be upgraded to come with bar staff, bottle service and flavoursome food offerings. Finally, it wouldn’t be a Cali party without some stellar entertainment. The venue has curated a star-studded program of events for The Rooftop Lodge, with dynamite DJs and roving performers set to dazzle.

The Rooftop Lodge launches on Saturday June 3 and will stick around until late August at Cali Beach, from Friday to Sunday. Head to the Cali Beach website for more information.
