Snow forecast for the Gold Coast – The Rooftop Lodge brings après ski fun to Surfers

The last week has been a particularly chilly start to winter and we’ve just received some breaking news – there is snow forecast for the Gold Coast. Come Friday June 24, Cali Beach is transforming into The Rooftop Lodge – a first-of-its-kind winter activation in the heart of Surfers Paradise complete with falling snow, hot tubs and après ski delights.

If you’ve ever spent time in Whistler, Mayrhofen or Val-d’Isère, you’ll know that after a day on the slopes, those towns know how to party. While the Gold Coast has definitely got the party part down pat, we don’t see any snow in these parts. That is – until now. This winter will see snow falling in Surfers Paradise at Cali Beach, as it transforms into one of the biggest winter activations ever seen in Australia. On Friday June 24, the mega lifestyle and entertainment precinct will reveal its spectacular $250,000-makeover to become The Rooftop Lodge – an après ski-inspired pop-up bringing a proper winter to the Gold Coast until the end of August.

Every inch of the rooftop venue has been overhauled to create The Rooftop Lodge, featuring an alpine forest of more than 60 snow-topped trees, fire pits and more – there will even be faux snow falling throughout the venue! Saké Sisters restaurant will become the Après Ski Lodge, The Cali Shop is turning into the Chalet Bar and an impressive dome Igloo Bar (the size of a tennis court!) has been craned in, complete with a toboggan-slide entry. Cali Beach’s VIP cabanas have been converted into luxury alpine lodges, decked out with fire pits and cosy furnishings, and between the pine trees you’ll discover two functioning hot tubs, pop-up games (such as ice-hockey competitions) and snow-themed surprises.

To keep you warm from the inside out, The Rooftop Lodge has created a special winter food and drink menu, featuring fondue, charcuterie boards and even marshmallows to roast over the fire pits. There will be plenty of cocktails and drink specials on offer too – including the classic shotski game, where you have to take shots of a ski in sync with your friends. Finally, it wouldn’t be a Cali party without some stellar entertainment. The venue has curated a star-studded program of events for The Rooftop Lodge, starting with Set Mo headlining the official launch party.

The Rooftop Lodge opens on Friday June 24 until late August at Cali Beach, open every Friday to Sunday with free entry and access to all areas day and night. Head to the Cali Beach website for the full entertainment line-up!
