The Island saddles up in spectacular style for its first Melbourne Cup bash

Ladies and gents, it’s time to don your finest frocks and suit up in style – Melbourne Cup is fast approaching. It’s the one day of the year where we all have a legitimate excuse to wag work for the afternoon, dress to the nines, drink champagne and indulge in fine fare. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a pro punter or if you only really go for the food (we’re definitely not judging), the race that stops the nation is certainly worth celebrating. The coast’s newest boutique hotel, The Island, is saddling up in spectacular fashion for its very first Melbourne Cup bash, with a series of elegant events spread across three levels. It’s time to rally up your fillies and stallions and get set for some spring-racing revelry.

Expect The Island to be buzzing on Tuesday November 7, as the boutique hotel plays host to a pretty spectacular affair. If sipping French bubbles and indulging in an exclusive feast on a sun-kissed rooftop sounds like your jam, then this is for you. Melbourne Cup at The Island, which is being hosted by Liz Cantor, will feature two ticketed soirees. There’s The Island Cocktail Party, which will span both the ground-level bistro bar as well as the upper-level Rooftop Bar. You’ll be doing plenty of snacking and sipping, with a selection of fancy canapes as well as free-flowing French bubbles (aka the good stuff), beers and wine. Whilst the excitement peaks at race time, there will be plenty to keep you entertained for the afternoon, with live music, sweeps, raffles and roaming performers.

Whilst it’s nice to be galavanting around, socialising and getting your money’s worth out of the expensive heels you splurged on, a sit-down gig can be very appealing. If you’d prefer to relax and savour a three-course lunch with Mumm champagne (fancy), then treat yo’self to the Level 12 Penthouse Sit-Down Gala. The luncheon will be brimming with contemporary eats as you bask in the race-day vibes and soak up the views from the swish new ‘penthouse’ events space up on (you guessed it) level 12. The post-race festivities for both the cocktail party and the gala luncheon will kick-on at the Rooftop Bar and the Bistro Bar, with live bands and DJs keeping the party alive until the wee hours. If you’re keen get amongst the Melbourne Cup vibe with a stylish soiree in the sunshine, then gallop over here for tickets.
