The Emperor’s New Clothes comes to the big screen, but not as you know it
Most of us know it as a short tale by Hans Christian Andersen, but Russell Brand’s version of The Emperor’s New Clothes is a very different story indeed.
The Arts Centre Gold Coast invites you to enjoy The Emperor’s New Clothes – a thought-provoking documentary starring controversial comedian, actor and radio host, Russell Brand. The film, which is directed by acclaimed English filmmaker Michael Winterbottom, explores the financial crisis and the growing disparity between economic classes. Using a mixture of documentary, interviews, archive footage, and comedy, Russell Brand takes us from his hometown in Essex, to the heart of London, and on to the Big Apple where he uncovers the bewildering truth about how the people at the bottom are paying for the luxuries of those at the top. Shockingly, according to Oxfam, the richest 80 people in the world own as much as the poorest 3.5 billion.
Showing for a strictly limited season from June 11–20, The Emperor’s New Clothes is one film you won’t want to miss. Jump over to The Arts Centre Gold Coast website to book your tickets.
