Surfers Paradise transforms into a beachside wonderland for 12 days of Christmas

Surfers Paradise will ignite into a beachside Christmas wonderland with a magical 12-day festival kicking off on Tuesday December 13. Nothing says Christmas on the Gold Coast like singing carols with sand between your toes, right?

Get excited – this will be a big one. The fun-filled festival will be highlighted by the Gold Coast’s largest Christmas carol concert, which will be held under the stars on the Surfers Paradise beachfront on Sunday December 18. Grab the picnic blanket and get your feet sandy for the stage spectacular, which will feature well-known host Charlie Robinson and home-grown talents Peter Murphy and Tom Gillinder. It’ll all be capped of by an impressive oceanfront fireworks display – this will be a must-see for around 30,000 Gold Coasters, so you’d best ride the G:link in for this one (just saying).

The 12-day festival will also feature daily appearances by surfing Santa (he’s a goofy footer with a solid cut-back) plus Christmas light displays across the beachfront and the vibrant Cavill Mall precinct, which will also be adorned with summer-style festive statues and oversized presents. There will be a raft of street entertainment and roving performers popping up from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm daily throughout the precinct – be sure to keep an eye out for the acrobatic elves. You’ll also be treated to free, yes – free, Santa photos in Cavill Mall each day from 10:00 am –1:00 pm and again from 4:00–7:00 pm. The carollers will be filling the Surfers Paradise streets with the sounds of Christmas each night from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm (excluding December 18, they’ll be busy lighting up the stage on the beachfront). So, if you’re keen to get into the festive spirit whilst enjoying the sunshine and beach vibes, you’ll have until Christmas Eve to soak it all up.
