Make tracks to catch Miami’s vibrant new street-art additions at SURFACE Festival
This year is a big one for much-loved live-music locale Miami Marketta, which is celebrating a massive decade of arts and culture! To commemorate the occasion the venue is hosting SURFACE Festival, an eight-day extravaganza of street-art installations.
With a few unforeseen changes due to COVID restrictions being implemented yet again, SURFACE Festival’s laneway music show component (that was originally sold out) has unfortunately been postponed. However, the free art activation element of the festival will continue and the streets of Miami will come alive from July 4 to 11. Expect a vibrant experience of colour and interactive opportunities to meet local artists and chat all things inspiration and process as you wander the local streets and see the works unfold.
The completely free and all-ages program is the perfect opportunity to walk, ride or stroll through Miami during the school holidays. Keep your eyes peeled for 11 major surfaces to be discovered – from walls at Miami Marketta to the Fenech Guitars showroom, and even the Burleigh Gold Coast Motel’s highway wall. Head here to peep the paint times for each artist. With more than 30 artists due to have their work featured in the Fence Line exhibition, which will span over two kilometres, there’s plenty to take in.The line-up of events will also include special artist breakfasts, a secret event called Sofar Sounds (to be hosted in a yet-to-be-disclosed location) and Sip and Paint workshops – keep your eyes peeled for further details as they are announced.
SURFACE is presented by Miami Marketta and supported by City of Gold Coast, Young Henrys, Daves Discount Paints and LONDON Estate Agents.
