Strengthen and stabilise with Surf Yoga

Strengthen and stabilise with Surf Yoga

Take your cutbacks to the next level with Surf Yoga at The Sunhouse in Coolangatta on Tuesday nights. Designed specifically to build core strength, the classes help prevent injury and improve your skills.

Yoga teacher Brooke Vardi understands the toll surfing can take on the body. From strained shoulders to lower back pain caused by overly enthusiastic twists and turns, surfing can be physically demanding. Her classes are designed to build and strengthen core muscles that will not only help prevent injury but will also result in improved stability which means longer ride time for you.

Surfing and yoga, once considered rather strange bedfellows, are now being viewed as two halves of a whole. Both require balance, strength and poise and are often viewed a spiritual pursuit by devotees. Beyond physical benefits and improved agility, practicing regular yoga is also proven to have a calming effect on the body so you can truly clear your mind and let’s be honest, if 11-time World Champion surfer Kelly Slater spruiks the benefits of yoga, we’re listening.

Surf Yoga is held on Tuesday nights.
