Sugarland gives a glimpse of Northern Territory life
For most of us city-dwelling folk who grew up with mobile phones and Wi-Fi at every McDonald’s, Sugarland provides an eye-opening look at growing up in the country where those things simply did not exist.
In 2011, playwrights Rachael Coopes (Art House) and Wayne Blair (The Sapphire, Bloodland, The Gods of Wheat Street) packed up and headed north to the remote town of Katherine in the Northern Territory for a series of residencies. The aim was to create a story that would allow audiences across the country to get a glimpse of what it’s like growing up in rural Australia and the result is Sugarland.
Inspiring and award-winning, Sugarland is coming to The Arts Centre Gold Coast for three shows only on Friday April 29 and Saturday April 30. The haunting new play promises to make you pause, smile and wonder. Tickets are $48.00 for adults, jump over here to grab yours before they sell-out.
