Splendour in the Grass reschedules its festival for July 2021

Australia’s pre-eminent music and arts festival has announced that it will push its 2020 event to next year, confirming new dates for July 23–25, 2021.

After some deliberation, the organisers of Splendour in the Grass Music & Arts Festival have announced that the 20th-anniversary edition of the three-day festival will be moved to July 23–25, 2021. The long-running event (traditionally held in Byron Bay in late-July) had already announced rescheduled dates for the 2020 edition, tentatively locking in Friday 23 to Sunday 25 of October after COVID-19-related lockdowns imposed a ban on public gatherings of 500 or more people. Despite the easing of pandemic restrictions across the country, no timeline has been set for the opening of international borders, casting doubt as to whether international headliners (which included the likes of The StrokesTyler, the CreatorYeah Yeah YeahsDenzel CurryKing Princess and more) would be allowed to travel to perform.

Splendour in the Grass co-producers Jessica Ducrou and Paul Piticco have subsequently decided to push the festival to next year, with the intention to rebook as many of the 2020 artists as possible for the 2021 festival. Ticket holders for the 2020 event are encouraged to hold onto their tickets, as all purchases would be honoured for the 2021 edition. Those who will be unable to attend the new dates will be able to apply for a refund through Moshtix. Be sure to check the Splendour in the Grass website for the most up-to-date information.
