Palisa Anderson from Boon Luck Farm joins chef Francisco Smoje for Slinging Plates at Barrio Byron Bay

Looking for something a little different and very delicious to spice up your week? Here you go. On Tuesday July 30, Byron Bay dining spot Barrio will be hosting its next Slinging Plates event, which will see chef Francisco Smoje join forces with renowned farmer and restaurateur Palisa Anderson (of Boon Luck Farm and Chat Thai restaurants) and Jared Dixon of Jilly Wines for the ultimate mid-week feast and sip experience.

Slinging Plates at Barrio (the Spanish neighbourhood eatery located at Habitat in Byron Bay) is a monthly event where chef Francisco Smoje gets to ‘sling plates’ with this favourite people, teaming up local food and wine identities to bring diners a mid-week mixtape of eats and drinks. The next Slinging Plates on Tuesday July 30 will take on an Asian lean, utilising hard-to-source ingredients from Palisa Anderson’s own Boon Luck Farm.

Francisco and Palisa will team up to delight hungry locals with $10 and $20 plates, featuring both meat and vegetarian-friendly dishes. Given Palisa’s prominence as a farmer (she supplies top Australian restaurants like Momofuku, Quay and Ester) you can expect some of the best and most intriguing produce to be brought to life in the Barrio kitchen. Clunes-based Jilly Wines will be slinging the sips, with a selection of winemaker Jared Dixon’s best small batches being paired and poured at $10 a glass. Tuesdays are the new Friday, right? To book your spot at Slinging Plates on July 30 head to the Barrio website or email [email protected].
