The cat’s out of the bag – Secret Broadway is coming to the coast in 2020

In what could arguably be one of the best worst-kept secrets around town, Secret Broadway is coming to the coast! No longer must musical-theatre lovers have to make the trek up the M1 to get a fix of fabulous because it’s all happening right here at HOTA. Secret Broadway kicks off on Saturday February 22 with a musical mash-up that you are definitely not going to want to miss!

If you’ve been known to bust out a ballad or two in your time and possess a deep-seated love of musical theatre, Secret Broadway is right up your alley. The show, which is described as part late night sing-a-long and part homage to musical theatre, promises a cabaret of unforgettable musical mayhem hosted by Emmy-Award winner Lance Horne, known for his infamous stints at Club Cumming (Alan Cumming’s night club in New York) and rubbing shoulders with the likes of music royalty including Carol Channing, Liza Minnelli and Kylie Minogue. Secret Broadway takes its inspiration from Jack Vietel’s award-winning book ‘The Secret Life of the American Musical: How Broadway Shows are Built’, with each evening inspired by a chapter in the book.

The first Secret Broadway event, which kicks off on Saturday February 22, will be headlined by none other than Broadway diva and American singer-songwriter Shoshana Bean, who you will definitely recognise from Hairspray, Wicked and Waitress. Whilst the setlist is kept under wraps, we’re told you can expect classics like ‘Oh What a Beautiful Mornin’’ from Singin’ in the Rain and ‘I Hope I Get It’ from A Chorus Line, plus plenty of other big songs you know and love. Shoshana will be joined by Australian star of television and theatre Simon Burke (Devil’s Playground, The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins) and special guest Jordan Malone (GFO’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). If you’re keen to head along, jump over here and if one night of fabulous frivolity is simply not enough, Lance Horne is hosting a party around the piano at Mondays in the Club – a spontaneous cabaret that can only be described as curated chaos. Mondays in the Club kicks off on February 24.
