PLUNGE gets set to make a spectacular splash
The Gold Coast Aquatic Centre is set to be transformed this month, with a spectacular multi-form artistic performance called PLUNGE. The intriguing and interactive theatrical showcase will hit the pool for four nights only from August 30 to September 2.
Created by Seeing Place Productions, in conjunction with Bleached Arts, PLUNGE is an exciting physical performance about taking a leap of faith – and beginning again when you fall. The show will take the audience on a theatrical adventure, which is inspired by the architecture of the impressive Gold Coast Aquatic Centre. We’re told that the audience will travel from the confines of the kid’s pool, look up at the dive tower, and overlook the 50-metre pool from the stadium to view evocative projections – all whilst listening to a rich collaboration of sounds through headphones.
PLUNGE, directed by Kate Shearer, creates a powerful intersection between sports and the arts, by using stories from the local swimming community – a timely theme in the lead-up to the 2018 Commonwealth Games. What a unique and unexpected way to utilise such a venue! Tickets to this one are very limited, head over here to book.
