Byron Bay’s PERMANENT art exhibition brings tattoo culture to life

Modern-day tattoo culture is being put on display in Byron Bay this month, with eye-catching pop-up exhibition PERMANENT underway and on display in Popped Space, a new gallery, event and studio in the heart of the new mixed-use Habitat precinct.

The PERMANENT pop-up exhibition, which will run until August 29, features a multi-media showcase from a series of artists that are influencing today’s tattoo culture on a local, national and international scale. Part of the exhibition is renowned Sydney photographer James Adams, artist Jessie Spencer (aka Sage Rider), designer and artist Esme Ferretti, photographer Naiara Gorostidi, tattooist Rhys Gordon and photographer Emma Salmon (the duo from Behind the Lines), tattooist Tarek Dem and artist Jess Lee Foote.

The exhibition also marks the official launch of Popped Space, which is one of the latest tenants in the Habitat precinct. The arts space and gallery is also available for hire for workshops, seminars, exhibitions, production launches, and also doubles as a photographic studio. You can find more information about Popped Space and its flagship PERMANENT exhibition over here.
