Roadtrip north for the Noosa Open Studios annual art trail

Spring has sprung and so has our wanderlust. If you’re in need of a weekend getaway and some cultural goodness, take a roadtrip north for Noosa Open Studios, an annual art trail where gifted local artists open the doors to their studios so you can get a behind-the-scenes look into their work.

This year, the fifth annual Noosa Open Studios will be held over ten days from Friday October 9 to Sunday October 18 across the scenic region. Once you arrive, begin your creative tour at the historic Wallace House in Noosaville, where you can collect your guide and delve into an exhibition showcasing eye-catching pieces from every artist on the trail. From there, you can journey through the picturesque shire of Noosa, discovering lesser-known areas and hidden gems as you make your way to the artists’ studios. At every stop, you’ll learn about each artist’s different creative processes, see their work and maybe even find a piece (or two) to take home.

This year, there are a whopping 98 artists involved in the event – from painters to ceramicists, mixed-media artists and much more. Sculptor Alison Comber will be showcasing her robot sculptures at her Peregian Beach studio, glass artist Annie McDonald will show off her colourful works from her studio in her acreage home in Cooroy, and painter Ben Lucas will display his emotionally evocative seascapes at Sunrise Beach. Other artists include painter Amanda Brookes, knife artisan and metal sculptor Geoffrey Cooke and mixed-media artist and painter Bronwyn Barton. The cherry on top? Noosa Open Studios is completely free!

This is just the tip of the iceberg for this jam-packed arts event. To learn more about Noosa Open Studios and to see the full line-up of artists, make tracks here.
