Dammit, Janet – Nell Campbell is taking audiences on an unmissable time warp with her one-woman show
Despite it first hitting the silver screen in the 70s, The Rocky Horror Picture Show continues to amass a cult following of individuals that watch the musical on repeat. If you are part of said cult following or fancy a chance to do the time warp with one of the OG cast members, we suggest you listen up. Australia’s own Little Nell Campbell, aka the original Columbia, is bringing her one-woman show to the Gold Coast, and you can bet there will be plenty of insider goss around her role in Rocky Horror, plus a few tall tales about her time busking on the streets of London and owning New York’s hottest nightclub.
Anyone who has seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show will probably agree with us when we say it’s one wild ride. The film was incredibly progressive for its time – perhaps this is why it bombed during it’s debut. However, a quick listen to ‘Time Warp’ or a re-watch of the movie further proves why it has since become ingrained in society as a cult classic. In the film, Nell Campbell plays Dr. Frank N. Furter’s sparkly and devoted servant, Columbia, and her role continues to be a critical part of the film’s legacy on and off the screen. After starring in the 1973 stage show and 1975 film, Little Nell then went on to act and sing across stage and screen, with a brief career as a pop-singer and popular New York nightclub owner. With a life as colourful and unimaginable as hers, it’s no suprise that Nell has more than enough material to entertain audiences with her striking one-woman show.
