Dining icon Harvest welcomes Tokyo chef Matthew Crabbe for its first Wild Harvest Chefs Series of 2019
Renowned Newrybar dining spot Harvest has lifted the lid on its first Wild Harvest Chefs Series for 2019 – and this one is going to be pretty darn special. The unmissable event, to be held on Wednesday March 6, will see celebrated Tokyo-based chef Matthew Crabbe join forces with Harvest’s head chef Alastair Waddell for a one-off dining experience.
For the uninitiated, the Wild Harvest Chefs Series events are far from your regular ‘chefs collaboration’. Instead, the chefs work with Harvest’s in-house forager and researcher Peter Hardwick to bring under-utilised native ingredients to the table. The menus offered at Wild Harvest nights come to life after a day of foraging – the chefs then put their culinary minds together to create a unique series of one-off dishes where ingredients from the local beaches and bushland shine bright.
Sydney-born Matthew Crabbe, formerly sous chef at Tetsuya’s, now runs the kitchens of three of Tokyo’s most popular venues – Two Rooms Grill | Bar, Ruby Jack’s Steakhouse & Bar, and Septième Brasserie, as well as Ruby Jack’s Steakhouse & Bar – City of Dreams in Manilla. Matthew’s involvement in the Wild Harvest event on March 6 will see a Japanese twist across the dishes, adding further intrigue to the unique dining concept. The event will feature five courses for $95, with matching wine an optional extra (do it). For more information and booking details, head to the Harvest website.
