Get glamorous and celebrate spring with Melbourne Cup at Surfers Paradise Marriott

Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa is taking Melbourne Cup up a notch this year, opening the doors to its elaborate grand ballroom to 400 eager racegoers for an exclusive event to celebrate the race that stops the nation.

That’s right, it’s time to don the frocks and fascinators and get a little bit fancy! The iconic Surfers Paradise Marriott luncheon is set to be one of the most glamorous celebrations on the Gold Coast. Enjoy a flute of Laurent-Perrier champagne on arrival, before being seated for a sumptuous three-course luncheon.  The talented Marriott chefs have designed a fresh and vibrant spring menu for the occasion, starting with Atlantic smoked salmon topped with caviar, fennel orange salad and saffron aioli. Enjoy a tender chicken breast filled with pumpkin, spinach and ricotta topped with pepper jus, or the grilled beef fillet with a pomme cigar, sweet potato puree and portobello mushroom for the main course. Save a little room for dessert, because this one’s a show stopper – peaches and cream with white chocolate mousse, peach cream, pink champagne jelly, salted caramel popcorn, topped with shimmering gold (we’re calling it – this is the ultimate spring dessert).

The spring luncheon will kick off at 12:00 pm with live entertainment by Musique and a fashion parade staged by the Gold Coast Fashion Institute – VIP seating at the front row of the catwalk will carry a slightly higher price tag. In true Melbourne Cup style there will be prizes for best-dressed, which we’re sure will prompt plenty of Gold Coast racegoers to take the fashion stakes to the next level. If an afternoon of amazing food, bubbles and entertainment gets you in the mood to kick on (after all, it is Melbourne Cup), then head to the Chapter & Verse bar for the spring after party from 3:30 pm.
