All-female performance Mana Wahine brings spine-tingling moments to The Arts Centre stage

A courageous all-female dance performance is hitting The Arts Centre Gold Coast stage this month, which is set to showcase the spirit of women through a collage of powerful imagery and dance. The much-anticipated Mana Wahine will be staged in three exclusive performances from Wednesday September 20 to Friday September 22.

The energetic and powerful performance has been created by three of New Zealand’s best choreographers – Taane Mete, Taiaroa Royal and Malia Johnston. The trio have combined dance, theatre and film to emulate the journey from creature to motherhood, and from life force to the spirit world.

The traditional Maori practices of karakia (prayer) waiata (song) and mythology are woven throughout the performance. Using the power of theatre, Mana Wahine creates a cultural connection from New Zealand to the rest of the world. This incredible performance, which sees culture and contemporary dance come together in spectacular fashion, is a must-see. Mana Wahine, produced by Okareka Dance Company, will be at The Arts Centre Gold Coast on Wednesday September 20, Thursday September 21 and Friday September 22. Head online for tickets.
