MAMMA MIA! Here we go again – smash hit musical coming to the Gold Coast
The global phenomenon that is MAMMA MIA! The Musical is (finally!) here on the Gold Coast and be still our ABBA-loving hearts. Presented by renowned Australian production company Matt Ward Entertainment, this exciting rendition of Catherine Johnson’s classic tale invites you to fall in love all over again and get swept up in the romance, heartbreak and drama of this much-loved musical.
If there is one stage show that is instantly adored the world over, it has to be MAMMA MIA! The Musical (it is, after all, the fifth highest grossing musical ever on Broadway) and now, Gold Coast audiences can experience all of the feelings firsthand when it sashays into The Star Gold Coast for three glorious weeks from June 19 to July 11. Featuring 22 songs you already know and love including ‘Voulez Vous’, ‘S.O.S’, ‘Take a Chance On Me’, ‘Dancing Queen’ and so many more, the show’s soundtrack is an ode to the pure pop brilliance that was the 70s Swedish supergroup ABBA so dust off your flares and unleash your inner dancing queen because frankly, it’d be rude not to.
If you’ve not yet had the pleasure of seeing the musical in person (or somehow skipped seeing the movie adaptation with ultimate dancing queen Meryl Streep) allow us to catch you up real quick. Set on a Greek island paradise and with a narrative inspired by the story-telling magic of ABBA’s timeless tunes, the feel-good tale revolves around a young bride-to-be on the eve of her wedding. Her quest to discover the identity of her father brings three men from her mother’s past back to the island they last visited 20 years ago, and naturally a whole lot of hilarity and heartbreak ensues.
