Interactive installation art on display in Lucas Abela’s Mix Tape

Gold Coast artist, Lucas Abela has created an exhibition of work that encourages audience engagement and hands on participation. He will be showcasing these new works at The Walls in Miami.

As an experimental musician and installation artist, Lucas Abela has become known around the world for his intricate and creative amalgamation of sound and art. Having performed and showcased in over 45 countries, the Gold Coast born creative is one of Australia’s best artistic exports.

Mix Tape is a new hands-on interactive art showcase being exhibited at The Walls gallery from now until March 7. Featuring live instruments, Mix Tape encourages audience participation and welcomes them to make noise on Lucas Abela’s devices. In slightly more complicated terms, Mix Tape features a tactile playback of a sculptural mass of audiotape attached to helium balloons. Participants can run the magnetic strips across exposed tape and hear results through play-stations. Check out some video of the exhibition in action, then head over to The Walls and experience this innovative installation for yourself.
