Prepare your tastebuds for the Low ‘n’ Slow BBQ Championships

Carnivores, assemble! This weekend the irresistible aroma of slow-cooked meat will engulf Ed Hardy park in Burleigh Heads as the Low ‘n’ Slow BBQ Championships come to town.

A world removed from the charred remnants that often pass for barbecued meat in Australia, 50 of the nation’s best professional barbecue teams will go head-to-head this weekend creating mouthwatering meaty feasts for $12,000 in prizes and the chance of representing Australia in the American Royal (World Series of barbecue) held in Kansas City. Hosted by Australasian Barbecue Alliance (ABA), the teams will each cook five cuts of meat for over 20-hours to be judged by a panel of 50 meat-lovers who will evaluate the meal on taste, appearance and texture.

The Low ‘n’ Slow BBQ Championships kick off at 9:00 am on Saturday morning with cooking demonstrations and a barbecue bootcamp with the main competition commencing at 3:00 pm and running through the night before judging at 9:00 am on Sunday. There will be live music throughout as well as food trucks on hand to satisfy your carnivorous cravings so bring a picnic blanket down and check out all of the meaty goodness.
