Bangarra’s Kinship comes to life at The Arts Centre

Watching the works of Bangarra Dance Company is the ultimate form of escapism, as another world unfolds before you on stage. Lose yourself in the wonder of Kinship this week at The Arts Centre Gold Coast.

There’s always an excited hush at the beginning of a Bangarra Dance Theatre performance, as the audience anticipates the breathtaking spectacle that’s about to take place before them. The newest work from the acclaimed dance company and its award-winning choreographer Stephen Page is Kinship.

Celebrating the resilience of Australian Aboriginal culture in both its traditional and contemporary forms, Kinship comprises two separate works — Brolga and ID — a fusion of traditional and contemporary music and dance. Stephen was inspired to create the works as a means of exploring the transformation of the human spirit, as well as the relationship between Indigenous people, creatures and the land. The story questions what exactly it is that brings us together as one, while also challenging, awakening and cleansing the spirit. The stunning performance of Kinship will take place on Wednesday October 14 at The Arts Centre Gold Coast.
