American and Asian cuisines collide at the Lucky Bao X JR’s Smokehouse feast

Calling all carnivores! The American-barbecue wizards from JR’s Smokehouse are joining forces with popular Mermaid Beach Asian eatery Lucky Bao for an exclusive one-night-only dining event that is set to deliver a delicious collision of American and Asian cuisines.

If you’re a fiend for succulent, slow-smoked meats, then you’d best lock in Thursday August 29 (an ideal prelude to the Gold Coast Show long weekend) for this unmissable Lucky Bao X JR’s Smokehouse Barbecue Dinner. Attendees will be treated to a six-course feast across two sittings (6:00 pm and 7:30 pm), with the option to add booze pairings of sake, whisky, wine and Black Hops beers.

We’ve managed to get a preview of the menu too – so, prepare to salivate! The dinner will start with barbecue pork jowl and smoked char sui sausage with mustard and hoisin, before moving on to a scallop and smoked-pork san choy bow. Diners can then feast on a barbacoa-beef bao bun with carrot, daikon and crushed peanut, followed by smoked and fried lamb ribs with kohlrabi and shiso. If that’s not enough to make your tastebuds sing, wait until you try the smoked Korean-style wings, before finishing off with JR’s famous beef brisket with chilli ponzu and crispy mushroom. Drooling? Same.

Tickets are $75 per person or $115 with paired beverages. For bookings, phone Lucky Bao on 07 5679 6517.
