Chef Joel Bickford of Sydney’s Aria heads to Harvest Newrybar for a one-night culinary collab

Ever wanted to dine at Sydney’s iconic harbourside restaurant, Aria? If it’s on your bucket list, keep it there – but while you’re waiting, you can get a taste of Aria a little closer to home when executive chef Joel Bickford heads north for an exclusive one-night-only collab at Harvest in Newrybar.

In Harvest’s first Wild Harvest Chefs Series for the decade, Joel Bickford – who was announced as Aria’s first new executive chef in 19 years back in 2018 – will make his way up the coast to bring his culinary prowess to the Harvest kitchen for a ticketed event on Wednesday March 11. In previous years, the Wild Harvest Chefs Series has drawn skilled chefs from around the globe (think Ben Shewry, Zeb Gilbert and Alex Munoz Labart) for one-off dinners – and the first event in the 2020 series is set to be a truly unmissable evening.

Joel Bickford will spend the day foraging with Harvest’s head chef Alastair Waddell and resident wild-food researcher Peter Hardwick, gathering native produce from the immediate area – then, they’ll work together to produce a five-course menu, exclusive to that event. While the menu isn’t decided until the day (it’s all part of the fun!) you can expect Joel to bring the tastes of Aria our way, putting his creativity to the test with some of Byron Bay’s most unique ingredients.

Wild Harvest featuring Joel Bickford is being held on Wednesday March 11. Tickets are $120 for five courses, plus $50 for matching wines. For bookings, email [email protected].au or call Harvest on 02 6687 2644.
