Indie icon J Mascis gears up to shred at the Soundlounge

Lo-fi pioneer, J Mascis is one of the best guitarists of the modern age, and his brand of indie-rock has withstood the test of time. Catch J Mascis when he cruises through the coast on February 20.

As front man for 90s indie rock megastars, Dinosaur Jr., J Mascis and his band mates spearheaded a surge of unique, alternative-rock. With a distinctive throwback sound akin to classic rock with a heady dose of feedback and distortion, the J Mascis guitar sound became as distinctive as his contemplative and drawling vocals.

After Dinosaur Jr. disbanded in 1997, J Mascis embarked on a solo journey, performing continuously by himself in the 2000s. Last here in 2012 for The Falls Festival, J Mascis has since released a new solo album, Tied To A Star, which follows on from his previous solo release, Several Shades of Why. J Mascis will be performing at Currumbin’s Soundlounge on Friday February 20, with support from former Magic Dirt front woman Adalita.
