It’s back! Genre-bending arts showcase Hotelling goes sky-high for its latest instalment

So, there’s no question that Hotelling was an absolute hit with its first instalment at QT Gold Coast last year. Either you went and were absolutely blown away (like us) or you didn’t go and have been kicking yourself ever since. Well, whichever group you fall into, you don’t want to miss the this year’s version of Hotelling. It’s literally going sky high – right up to the 64th-floor penthouse of Peppers Soul in Surfers Paradise from November 1–5 … and it will be like nothing you’ve ever seen before.

Last year, guests were invited ‘down the rabbit hole’ for 48 hours of unpredictable artistic brilliance at QT Gold Coast, and this year the five-star Peppers Soul penthouse will be transformed to set the scene for another truly unique cultural experience. The 2017 instalment of Hotelling has been created by renowned interactive artist David Pledger and Bleached Arts’ director Louise Bezzina, who have curated a talented ensemble of Australian artists, to be led by dynamic host Todd MacDonald. This year’s Hotelling concept has been described as ‘the mother of all Last Suppers’, and will ultimately take the form of a decadent, seductive and over-the-top penthouse party.

Now, we’re told guests will be summoned to the lavish beachfront Peppers’ penthouse apartment, where they’ll be invited into the intoxicating world of fictitious rich businessman Richard Hightower (played by Todd MacDonald), who will ‘conduct his most extravagant connivance’ in honour of his 118th birthday. The audience will be injected into the intriguing story as they feast on a delicious spread of food and wine from Seaduction, Peppers’ esteemed hatted restaurant. This is really, really unique, and has been described as “an alchemy of contemporary art and cultural hospitality”. Intrigued? You should be. The exclusive run of Hotelling shows will be held from November 1–5, with two sittings nightly – 5:00–7:00 pm, and 8:00–10:00 pm. Tickets are $150, including food and drink. Head online for tickets.
