Cultural icons reimagined at Hinge Gallery

With portraitures of Marilyn Monroe and Jimi Hendrix among the vibrant collection, Heads, by Marcus Brightmore features cultural icons like you’ve never seen them before.

Imagine, if you will, the Mona Lisa if she was given a colourful Carnival make-over. If you like what you see in your mind then get down to Hinge Gallery at Dust Temple and meander around the Heads exhibition by Gold Coast-based Brazilian artist, Marcus Brightmore. The vibrant collection features some of the artist’s favourite musicians, surfers and other icons in beautiful vibrant colours, a nod to his upbringing in Rio De Janeiro.

Heads will be on display at Hinge Gallery until Wednesday September 30 so pop in, grab a coffee and a bite from fl.oz Espresso and enjoy some beautiful art. The pieces are for sale so if by chance you fall in love with Marilyn or one of her comrades, it can be yours, providing someone hasn’t beaten you to the punch.
