Challenge yourself with group fitness classes in Burleigh Heads

If your new year’s resolution to get fit is off to a slow start, head along to group fitness in Rotary Park on The Esplanade at Burleigh Heads on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 6:00 am.

Chances are, you’ve seen them running, lunging and jump-squatting their way up Burleigh Hill with that undeniable look of pain etched on their faces and wondered to yourself why they torture themselves in such cruel and unusual ways. The reason becomes clear once you see the strain turn to smiles at the end of the class. These people are part of a group fitness class that is run by the City of Gold Coast as part of its Active & Healthy Citywide Program.

The group meets at the car park at the end of 3rd Avenue and each class costs $3.00 per person. It’s less than a cup of coffee and is guaranteed to wake you up faster. The class attracts people of varying ages and fitness levels from absolute beginners right through to seasoned boot-campers. Hunter will put you through your paces (literally) that generally includes circuits, boxing, core strengthening and stretching to deliver a high-intensity all-over workout. You will walk away feeling amazing, for a short while at least until your muscles decide they hate you.

The Active & Healthy Citywide Program of events includes a whole range of initiatives from healthy cooking classes through to seminars and even dance classes that are free or low-cost.
