Live, loud and local – Gold Coast Music Awards to go ahead virtually this April

It’s a major event that would normally go off with a bang on the beachfront, but this year the Gold Coast Music Awards are heading online for the first time ever, with roaring crowds and on-stage performances subbed out for iso-friendly lounge-room shows and a virtual red carpet.

Set your reminders, folks – the 2020 Gold Coast Music Awards will be kicking off at 7:00 pm on Thursday April 30 via Facebook. Grab takeaway from your local and settle in for a night on the couch with sweet tunes and fun times with some of the finest folk in the city’s music scene. The online event will also feature unmissable lounge-room performances by indie rockers Eliza & The Delusionals, acclaimed blues-and-roots festival fixtures Hussy Hicks and renowned local beat maker Casey Barnes.

The virtual version of the Gold Coast Music Awards will see 31 finalists vying for top gong across ten categories, including big names like Busby Marou, Hollow Coves, Ivey, Peach Fur, Being Jane Lane and Tijuana Cartel. The likes of Mo’s Desert Clubhouse, HOTA and Soundlounge are up for Venue of the Year, while hit releases from names like Ella Fence, Baltimore Gun Club and Eddie Ray are finalists in the Video of the Year category. Just who (and where) will take out those esteemed gold statues? Tune in on Thursday April 30!
