Show the environment some love for Gold Coast Green Week

Show the environment some love for Gold Coast Green Week

From May 28 to June 5, the Gold Coast will shine a spotlight on the green behind the gold for Gold Coast Green Week. Show your support by heading along to one of the many community events in your area.

If you enjoy beautiful beach days and magical treks through pristine rainforests, here is your chance to give a little back to the environment that gives us so much. Gold Coast Green Week is an initiative by Gecko, the Gold Coast’s peak non-government not-for-profit environment group, and is designed to raise awareness about the importance of caring for the environment and promote a cleaner, greener and brighter coast for the present and the future.

So, how can you show your support? It is as simple as getting crafty with discarded bottles and cans at Cans for Creativity, treating the kids to some awesome eco art and amazing vegan food at Mandala Organic Arts Cafe’s family fun day, taking a guided stroll through O’Reilley’s rainforest or getting involved in one of the BeachCare events that are happening around the coast. The jam-packed program offers a plethora of fun things to see and do so there is guaranteed to be something that tickles your fancy. Gold Coast Green Week coincides with World Environment Day on June 5, which is known as the ‘people’s day’ for doing something positive for the environment. It’s the perfect opportunity to reconnect with nature or give a little helping hand. Check out the whole program of Gold Coast Green Week events or have a read of our chat with Gecko’s president Anna Itkonen.
