Spread the local love and hit up the Gold Coast’s best Christmas markets
We won’t mince words here (only pies) – it’s been a tough year (understatement) so now more than ever before, it’s important to shop local as much as possible. When you shop small, an actual person does a little happy dance. In fact, buying from local Christmas markets pretty much generates nothing but positives – you get to pick up unique things that your friends and family will love, as well as supporting local makers and creators with your patronage (and not to mention getting to avoid shopping centre carparks as a sweet little bonus). If you’re searching for presents with a little more heart this year, save this round-up of the Gold Coast’s best Christmas markets and cross some names off your nice list.

The event will take over the staff carpark at Westfield Helensvale from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm and there will be over 100 stalls brimming with everything handmade, home-grown and home-baked. Everything is made in Australia, so that’s something to feel darn great about.
The Village Markets, Burleigh Heads State School – Sunday November 15, December 6 and 20
When it comes to buying local, it’s hard to go past The Village Markets at Burleigh Heads State School. Kicking off from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm, we strongly recommend carving out a good chunk of time to wander the stalls at leisure. When you’ve crossed everyone off your list (including a little something for yourself), nab a shady spot under a tree and soak in the live tunes – November 15 will feature Simon Anau and Lily Budiasa, December 6 will see Lily Budiasa and In The Flowers DJ’s take the stage and for those last-minute gifters, December 20 will feature live music by Lily Budiasa. Go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back for making excellent choices in life.

The Finders Keepers, Online Market – November 25–29
Ordinarily, The Finders Keepers goodness is a reserved for our Brisbane mates, however this Christmas the fine folk have taken things online to create a dedicated event designed to help you shop well and support Australian small business. The online marketplace will showcase over 300 sellers at your fingertips! The market won’t be a battle for who can be the cheapest. It’s about being mindfully made and thoughtfully bought. Over the event weekend, visitors can experience exclusive seller specials while shopping well and supporting small business too!
Farmer’s Markets, Various
Twas the nights before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse because everyone was at the Farmer’s Markets stocking up on holiday foodstuffs and last-minute gifts. Avoid the supermarket chaos (and that dreaded Out Of Stock email from online orders) and make haste to these special festive Farmer’s Markets. Bundall Farmer’s Market is happening on Wednesday December 23 and the Palm Beach Farmer’s Market is taking place on Thursday December 24. All of your favourite stallholders will be there as well as a special guest appearance from the big man himself before he rounds up the reindeers and hits the sky.
