Spread the local love and hit up the Gold Coast’s best Christmas markets

We won’t mince words here (only pies) – it’s been a tough year (understatement) so now more than ever before, it’s important to shop local as much as possible. When you shop small, an actual person does a little happy dance. In fact, buying from local Christmas markets pretty much generates nothing but positives – you get to pick up unique things that your friends and family will love, as well as supporting local makers and creators with your patronage (and not to mention getting to avoid shopping centre carparks as a sweet little bonus). If you’re searching for presents with a little more heart this year, save this round-up of the Gold Coast’s best Christmas markets and cross some names off your nice list.

The Village Markets, Burleigh Heads State School – Sunday November 21, December 15 and 19
When it comes to buying local, it’s hard to go past The Village Markets at Burleigh Heads State School. Kicking off from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm, we strongly recommend carving out a good chunk of time to wander the stalls at leisure. When you’ve crossed everyone off your list (including a little something for yourself), nab a shady spot under a tree and soak in the live tunes. Go ahead and give yourself a pat on the back for making excellent choices in life.

Art + Crafters Christmas Market, Gold Coast Potters Association, Benowa – Sunday December 5
The Gold Coast Potters’ popular Christmas Market is back again this year, with stalls featuring handmade creations by local artists. You’ll find everything from ceramic pieces to jewellery, sculptures, glass creations, textiles and more. There will be food stalls, live music, demonstrations by local potters. It’s the perfect place to get a cracking start on your Christmas shopping.

Christmas Twilight Markets, Surfers Paradise – Saturday December 11
Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets will be hosting a Christmas pop-up market on Saturday December 11 from 4:00–9:00 pm. Expect toe-tapping entertainment, unique handmade gifts, artisan provisions and kids activities galore, there will even be a visit from the big man himself.

The Finders Keepers, Online Market
Ordinarily, The Finders Keepers goodness is a reserved for our Brisbane mates, however this Christmas the fine folk have taken things online to create a dedicated event designed to help you shop well and support Australian small business. The online marketplace showcases a range of sellers who create beautiful wares for you and your family. The market isn’t a battle for who can be the cheapest. It’s about being mindfully made and thoughtfully bought.

Towri Twilight Christmas Markets, Allenview – Saturday December 11
If you’re keen on a road trip, we have the perfect excuse! Christmas is only around the corner and the Davidson Family of Towri Sheep Cheeses have decided to open their beautiful gardens up for a night of yuletide cheer. Expect plenty of festive fun including a visit from Santa and a Christmas wonderland for kidlets complete with carols, alongside local produce, wine tasting for the adults, food stalls and sheep pats (of course!!).

Gold Coast Christmas Markets, Broadwater Parklands – December 17-19
