Cakes for a cause – gather the gals and head to the High Tea with Friends charity event

Tea, colourful cakes, fresh scones (with jam and cream, of course), dainty sandwiches – oh yes, we’re all for a fancy high tea! Though, most of us really only do high tea when it’s a special occasion, like a birthday or a baby shower. If you’re done waiting for the next excuse to indulge in a high tea experience, then gather the girls and book a table at High Tea with Friends – it’s happening at Southport Sharks on Saturday May 26. The best part? It’s all for an incredibly wonderful cause.

The High Tea with Friends event is presented by Friends with Dignity – a not-for-profit organisation that supports victims of domestic violence across Australia. The event at the Southport Sharks Event Centre on May 26 is one of four high teas held by Friends with Dignity across the country during May, so this is the perfect chance for us Gold Coast folk to get behind this life-changing organisation.

The fun-filled afternoon will kick off with a complimentary glass of bubbles, before you’ll indulge in chef Jayson King’s delicious high-tea menu – expect a refined spin on everything from oh-so-sweet macarons to gourmet dainty sandwiches, petite cakes and more. Kerri-Anne Kennerley will MC the event, with a keynote speech from dynamic domestic violence crusader Rosie Batty, the founder The Luke Batty Foundation. An afternoon with friends, nibbling and sipping for a great cause? We’re in. Jump online to book your tickets.
