Satisfy your inner gourmand at Foodie Friday

If you spend a disproportionate amount of your day thinking about food, mosey on down to Murwillumbah with a table and chair and indulge in a feast in the street for Tweed Foodie Fest’s Foodie Friday.

Wharf Street and Murwillumbah Street will be transformed into an open-air restaurant for the first Foodie Friday of 2015. Munch on tasting plates from a huge range of restaurants and stalls including Cenzo, which will be plating up steamed mussels in a white wine, tomato, garlic, chilli and fresh herb broth for just $6 a plate alongside twice cooked crispy pork belly in a chilli, ginger and caramel sauce with a Thai green mango salad for $11. Cheeses Loves You will satisfy your hankering for cheese with halloumi skewers and antipasto platters while JR’s Smokehouse Barbecue will be serving up their famous texas-style brisket and Carolina pulled pork for $11 a plate. If you’re someone who likes to take a peek at the menu before you arrive, you can browse the whole mouthwatering array online. Tweed Foodie Fest aims to bring the agricultural production to the fore and showcase the season’s finest locally grown produce – from paddock to plate. Foodie Friday is BYO table, chair, drinks and appetite.

The street feast is part of a five day program of ANZAC centenary commemorations that is being held by the Tweed Foodie Fest Committee, the Tweed Regional Museum, Tweed Regional Gallery, Tweed River Jockey Club and the Murwillumbah Farmers’ Markets. The festival concludes on ANZAC Day with a race day at the Tweed River Jockey Club. The Foodie Fest stalls will move trackside to tempt your tastebuds and there will be live entertainment by Lou Bradley and the Creedence Revival Show. For automobile aficionados, the Mount Warning Historic Auto Club will also host an exhibition of restored historic cars.
