Endless summer – five ways to warm up your weekend in the middle of winter

At the beginning of winter, the mercury dropping is a bit of a novelty – enjoying the crisp mornings and cool evenings is a bit of a treat. By the time July rolls around though, we are aching for a spot in the sunshine with a deliciously summery cocktail in hand. Well, friends, we’ve got just the thing to ward off the winter blues – a round-up of weekend warmers that you can find on the coast, and all in the one location.

Catch some soul-warming live music
The laidback tunes of the McKenzie Band are the perfect soundtrack to an afternoon watching the sunset with a few mates. From classic hits to cruisy beats delivered with the trio’s signature flair, it’s a cracking recipe for a Sunday session that ends up with the crowd on their feet and dancing the night away. You can catch the local legends every Sunday afternoon at Live on The Lawn from 4:00 pm.

Indulge in delicious eats
The much-loved Container Kitchen slings snacks day and night to keep you fuelled and ready to tackle the dance floor. With a new winter menu featuring comfort food-inspired bites like truffled mac ‘n’ cheese, a melty bechamel and Swiss cheese-stuffed croque monsieur, and loaded fries covered in cheese and smoked bacon bits. The hardest part is choosing! Luckily the options are perfect for sharing, so you can order a few and make the most of it.

Treat yourself to some fruity sips
With a refreshing cocktail in hand, some infectious beats playing and The Lawn’s festoon lights glowing above you, it’s almost possible to imagine you’re in a far-flung tropical destination. From the juicy Watermelon Paloma (Herradura Plata tequila, watermelon, watermelon syrup and lemon juice) and the delectable Lychee Sloe Gin Sour (Hayman’s Sloe Gin, Lychee Paraiso, egg white and lemon juice) to the Million Dollar Martini (Ketel One, Aperol, passionfruit pulp, vanilla syrup and lime juice), there’s plenty to choose from. Prefer the classics? No worries – the Garden Bar team will hand-craft your favourite cocktail or pour you a soul-warming whisky on request.

Shake it off
There’s nothing like getting moving to warm you up and put you in a good mood, and we’ll take dancing the night away to an unmissable DJ set over grinding it out at the gym any day. Whether you catch Brooke Evers on Saturday September 11, Taleena on Saturday September 18 or Dirty South on Saturday September 25, there are plenty of party-starting acts to choose from. There’s a reason the dance floor is the place to be on a Saturday night – the vibes are high and the crowd is ready to party.

Get some fresh air
If you’ve spent all day cooped up inside, there’s no fix like getting outside and taking in some fresh air. Even better, spending the evening at Live on The Lawn will combine all of the above – drool-inducing bites, deliciously drinkable cocktails, top-notch tunes to get you grooving and good vibes! To make it even better, you can now nab your very own fire pit to sit around under the starry night sky. Grab a bunch of friends and hire one of the toasty new additions for $250, which includes $200 to spend at the bar and Container Kitchen!
