Double trouble – this thrilling audio game puts you head-to-head with a look-alike imposter

Imagine this – you’re home alone with your beloved family member when they start acting a little strangely. Maybe they just don’t seem like themselves. One thing is for sure – something is definitely off, but you can’t quite put your finger on it. This is the concept behind the hair-raising at-home audio experience, Double, which pits players against their loved ones in a race to find out who is the imposter.

Double is the brainchild of British theatre company Darkfield and Melbourne’s Realscape Productions, the masochistic crew behind the terrifying shipping-container shows Séance and Flight. Taking the idea behind Invasion of the Body Snatchers to a whole new level, Double explores the Capgras delusion, a very scary (and real) condition in which the sufferer is convinced that a loved one has been replaced by an exact replica with malign intentions (big yikes).

The audio game is the first presentation to be broadcast on DARKFIELD RADIO, and instead of entering a creepy shipping container, the game can be played from the comfort – or discomfort – of home. To start the spine-chilling 20-minute experience, all you need is a mobile phone, a pair of headphones for each player and another willing participant. Then sit yourself across from your friend (or foe) and press play. The rest is, well, a mystery as they say, but one thing is for sure – Double will have you questioning everything you know and even asking yourself ‘Am I the imposter?’. There is only one rule for the game to work – everyone has to be who they say they are.

Who needs to watch a heart-pumping thriller when you can experience this nightmarish at-home game? Double runs on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights until August 1Tickets are $10 each and can be secured here.
