Celebrate cultural connections and homegrown artists at Horizon Festival on the Sunshine Coast

Over ten days in August, the Sunshine Coast is playing host to a contemporary multi-arts festival. More than just your average collection of visual art, music, theatre, dance, words, film and creative workshops, Horizon Festival is rooted in celebrating the natural beauty of the Sunshine Coast with a program that thoughtfully honours and highlights the Traditional Custodians of the land in which it operates – the Kabi Kabi and Jinibara Peoples. If you relish in celebrating art in all of its forms, have a thirst for the knowledge shared by our First Nations Peoples and are craving a northern escape, then head up to the Sunshine Coast from August 26 until September 4 and immerse yourself in ten days of spectacular creativity and culture-rich performances. more

Relive one of the greatest eras of music at the nostalgia-inducing exhibition Cut Copy

From cultivating a punk scene that welcomed The Go-Betweens and The Leftovers to birthing these blokes and fostering a whole new generation of musically gifted talent, it's more than fair to say that Brisbane has had a major impact on Australia's music industry. A pivotal moment for our city's music scene happened between the 70s and 80s, where in suburban halls, corner pubs and bustling clubs, local bands and little-known artists thrived. Turn your scorn into art at QT’s curious new interactive museum Heartbreak Hotel

Everyone deals with break-ups differently – some of us mainline ice-cream, some of us watch The Notebook on repeat, some of us cyber-stalk our exes with a precision that would make ASIO proud and some of us set fire to every earthly possession that our lover has left behind. There are no hard and fast rules for mourning the end of a relationship, but there is a certain catharsis that comes from ridding yourself of everything that reminds you of your past paramour. Turning the concept of “filling a garbage bag with your ex’s stuff and literally dumping it on the street” into art is QT Hotel – because the reverse-cupids there have cooked up a concept designed to help you heal (but make it cute). Introducing Heartbreak Hotel, a pop-up exhibition where you can submit your relationship relics in the name of documenting love lost. more
