With the cancellation of the Ekka, country businesses, producers and farmers who use the ten-day event to share with us city dwellers all that is great from rural areas have suffered another blow. To help support our regional mates and enjoy all of the homegrown goodness they have to offer, the folks behind Buy From The Bush have organised an inaugural Buy From The Bush Festival. Clear your calendar on Saturday September 18 as that’s when you’ll be going on a roadtrip to Summer Land Camel Farm.

For the not-so-in-the-know, Buy From The Bush started in mid-2018 as a Facebook page for rural-based women doing it tough, and has since blossomed into an online community of Queensland-based bush businesses, creatives and an eclectic array of family-run side hustles. Now, the much-followed initiative is kicking off its first-ever festival at Summer Land Camel Farm (just a short 45-minute drive from Brisbane) in the Scenic Rim on Saturday September 18 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

This jam-packed celebration will showcase what makes the Australian bush – and the people who call it home – so special. Event-goers can expect a boutique country market full of flavoursome fare, fresh produce, wines, family-friendly experiences (yes, camel rides can be booked on the day), handmade crafts and products from businesses and makers from regional and rural Queensland as far away as Longreach. So bring along your esky and make sure there’s room in the boot, because you’re definitely going to need it.
