Our country is hurting and it needs our help, whether it’s from direct donations (go you!), supporting some of the amazing businesses that have pledged a percentage of profits (take a peek at our list here) or heading along to a charity event and parting with some pennies. If you’re keen for the latter, here are a few local fundraising events for you to hit with the crew.

Make It Rain at The Beach Hotel, January 8 and 9
If you love live music, this one is a no-brainer! This Wednesday and Thursday, a bunch of Aussie artists including Wolfmother, ARC (which consists of members of Spiderbait, You Am I, Jet and Even), Tex Perkins & the Loose Rubber Band, Tim Rogers, T’N’T and Bernard Fanning will take the stage at The Beach Hotel in beautiful Byron Bay to raise money for the NSW RFS Northern Rivers and Far North Coast brigades. Tickets are $49 for a single night or $89 for two nights, jump over here to grab yours now. The Make It Rain team is also running an online auction with some amazing money-can’t-buy experiences including a one hour training session with Chris Hemsworth and Elsa Pataky, a surf with Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson, a styling session at Spell & The Gypsy Collective and a two-hour cooking class with Shannon Bennet up for grabs. Byron Boys Busk for Bushfire Relief at Apex Park, Thursday January 9
If you’re in need of a little musical relief, roll out a rug in Apex Park in Byron Bay from 4:00 pm and treat your earholes to sweet sounds from Kyle Lionhart, Tay Oskee, Jack Botts, Billy Otto, Felipe Baldomir, Dusty Boots and Ben Camden. The boys will be busking their butts off to raise money for the Aussie Influencers for Australia Go Fund Me page set up by Simon Hill from Plant Proof. The donations will be split evenly across six organisations that are providing relief to the victims of the fires, humans and animals included.

Casa for a Cause at The Crafty Cow + Tucker Casuarina, Saturday January 11
This Saturday (January 11) you’re invited to eat, drink and enjoy excellent live music at The Crafty Cow and Tucker at The Commons in Casuarina. There will be tunes by Bronte Eve Music and 100-percent of profits from the night will be donated to the NSW Rural Fire Service. There will be a raffle as well as an auction of some sweet prizes so if you’re keen, head along from 4:30 pm.

Bushfire Appeal at Loki Nobby Beach, Sunday January 12
If you were looking for an excuse to crack a tin this Sunday (January 12), this is it! Loki in Nobby Beach is hosting a Bushfire Appeal where all proceeds from the sale of Stone & Wood and Balter as well as all wines from the Adelaide Hills will be donated to fire relief efforts. The epic five-hour DJ set will kick off at 1:00 pm with all DJ’s donating their pay cheque to the cause.

Beer and hot chips at Robina Pavilion, January 11 and 12
This weekend Robina Pavilion is doing their bit and donating $1 from each beer plus all funds from bowls of hot chips to the Bushfire Appeal. Beer and hot chips – you don’t have to tell us twice!

Secret Fundraising Gig, Thursday January 16
Sofar, aka the crew responsible for staging secret, intimate gigs in unique spaces all around the world, is hosting a Gold Coast gig on Thursday January 16 with all profits to be donated to the national bushfire crisis. So who’s playing? It’s a secret. Where is it? Somewhere in Burleigh. Yeah but where specifically? We can’t tell you that but dear music lovers, all will be revealed to those who are lucky enough to nab themselves a ticket. It’s BYO and if you’re keen to head along, apply for tickets here.

From Brisbane, With Love – A Fire Relief Benefit, Sunday January 19
Beloved live-music venue The Triffid in Brisbane bringing together the community for a Sunday session of song, hosting From Brisbane, With Love – A Fire Relief Benefit on Sunday January 19. The crew has assembled a line-up of all-star musical performers for the event, featuring Alex The AstronautThelma PlumKira PuruThe Grates and Tia Gostelow. The beer garden will open from 2:00 pm with tunes provided by Mojo Webb, while at 6:00 pm official event MC Mel Buttle will kick off the evening’s musical showcase. The Weekend Edition is proud to team up with our pals at The Triffid to help host a fundraising raffle and events on the day, with a collection of incredible prizes up for grabs. Balter Brewing HQ, Friday January 17 and Sunday January 19 (closed Saturday)
The team at Balter Brewing will be taking part in a national activation called Beers for Bushfire Relief and will be pledging every cent from every beer cold over the two days to the Australian Red Cross and Wires Wildlife Rescue. Plus, Balter will donate $1 from every beer sold at the HQ from now until it’s needed – they’ll donate weekly for as long as it’s needed.

Trivia Night at Tugun Bowls Club, Wednesday January 22
Fancy yourself a bit of a trivia whiz? Put your money where your mouth is and help raise funds for firefighters on Wednesday January 22 at Tugun Bowls Club. Entry is $10 per person (with all trivia proceeds going to RFS) and there will be three rounds of 20 questions and some seriously good prizes up for grabs. To book call 07 5534 1245.

Vinnies Dive Bar Red Cross Bushfire Appeal, Sunday January 26
If you like it loud and dirty, make tracks to Vinnies Dive Bar in Southport on Saturday January 26 for a raucous gig featuring a dozen bands from midday to midnight. Among the bands that will be slaying the stage is Donny Love, Radolescent, The Disables, The Wrath, Lens, Entrapment, The Dirty F-Holes and Loud Goes Bang. Entry is $15 and 100-percent of the proceeds will go donated to Australian Red Cross. Tickets are getting snapped up faster than free beer on a hot day so if you’re keen to head along, jump over here.

Fire Relief Fundraiser Concert at Miami Marketta, Friday January 31
An incredible event – music makers Ivey, Tia Gostelow, Daste, DVNA and Citrus Daze are coming together for an all-ages live concert at Miami Marketta. Tickets are $20 and available here through Oztix – 100 percent of proceeds will go to the Australian Red Cross and Wildlife Victoria.

REGENERATE fundraiser at Mint Art House, Saturday February 1
The creative wizards at Burleigh’s Mint Art House will be hosting an art action with all proceeds going to fire-affected communities. There will be live music, food, drinks and door prizes while the team auctions pieces from its own resident artists. It’s being held from 4:00–9:00 pm, just make a donation upon entry. More details are coming, but keep eyes on Mint’s Instagram page for more.
