Mega garage sales and plant bargain bonanzas – the must-visit markets happening this spring

As the mercury begins to rise and it’s safe again to go outside without all of those extra layers, one of our favourite weekend pastimes become a stroll through the markets. Whether we’re window shopping, have a list of must-buys or we’re searching for our next sacred personal treasure, markets are a cherished way to discover new things. Sharing our love of weekend activities are the team behind Brisbane MarketPlace, who are gearing up to host not one, but two jam-packed events – the Mega Garage Sale and Plantapalooza. Here’s all of the juicy details on both …

Brisbane MarketPlace is behind some of our favourite shopping events, and its next two spring happenings are not to be missed. The fun kicks off with Plantapalooza on Saturday October 9, which is set to feature thousands of leafy babies just waiting to be adopted – including primo indoor and outdoor plants, fabulous florals and stellar succulents. Eager plant parents can find this foliage-filled wonderland at the Saturday Fresh Market, which will be running as usual and offering up its weekly line-up of fresh produce, delicious deli products, baked goods, fresh flowers and more. Whilst you stock up on greenery, there will be live music filling the air as well as kid-friendly activities like jumping castles, face painting, performances from Little Green Thumbs and lots of interactive and educational displays for budding horticulturists of all ages.

The scintillating sales continue with the much-anticipated Mega Garage Sale, which returns on Sunday November 28. This mammoth bargain spectacular will host a month’s worth of garage sales in one morning at the Sunday Discovery Market in Rocklea. Treasure hunters will be able to rummage for pre-loved and vintage gems and also take a sun-dappled stroll through the Sunday Discovery Market’s 200 regular undercover stalls, which will be hawking everything from plants (you can never have enough!) to collectibles, fresh produce and much, much more. Plus, you’ll be able to grab your morning brew and some delicious breakfast bites from the huge selection of food trucks that line the event, whilst local musos will be serenading event-goers throughout the day. Sounds like a weekend well spent, if you’re asking us.
