Bleach* Festival 2016 rolls in to town

Even though summer is over, there are still plenty of reasons to smile as Bleach* Festival 2016 kicks off. The premier arts and cultural event offers a myriad of things to see and do from Friday March 4 to Sunday March 20.

Over three massive weekends, Bleach* Festival 2016 will stage over 50 community events including eight world premiers and feature a stellar line-up of local and international artists. As the sun sets on the working week, the shores of Evandale Lake will become a playground for acrobats and singers for Horizon with Angels and on Saturday March 5, Bleach in the City takes over Southport. Coinciding with the first Chinatown Street Market, head along for a cultural feast of entertainment with lion dancers and Japanese drummers and live music from Columbia Buffet, Donny Love and The Vernons. If you’re up for a dinner party with a twist, reserve a seat at Jamie Lewis’ Saltwater. On the southern end, Feast Fiesta transforms Fifth Avenue in Palm Beach into the boulevards of New Orleans with pop-up restaurants, live music and general frivolity.

On Sunday March 6, the festival moves to The Esplanade at Paradise Point and brings foot-stomping flamenco, beats and eats. Currumbin RSL will host Out of the Woods, a program of live music interspersed with some crazy theatrical surprises from The Farm, or settle in for an afternoon of music and art at The Walls’ Banana Sunday. Get a new perspective on women’s skateboarding at the Yeah Girl exhibition at Dust Temple and break up the working week with Ocean Film Festival on Tuesday March 8, Somerset Celebration of Literature on Wednesday March 9 and Luminaries lights up Griffith University on Thursday March 10. Check out the Bleach* Festival 2016 website for the whole incredible schedule of events.
