Witness an explosive ‘art battle’ at the Gold Coast City Gallery this weekend

It’s time for a showdown. An art showdown. The Gold Coast City Gallery is staging the city’s first ever ‘art battle’ this Saturday March 25 – it’s a live competitive painting event that will see seven of the best local urban artists go head-to-head in a one-hour art extravaganza.

The team at the Gold Coast City Gallery has selected a solid line-up to go to battle – Christen Saumon, Josh Thorsen,  Kiel Tillman,  Rueben Stocks, Shannon Doyle,  Michael Motteram-Smith and Paul ParkerThese seven local urban artists have emerged from the streets and their studios and will head into the gallery for a one-night-only head-to-head showdown. The artists will have one hour to work – there’s no restriction on the subject, medium or tools they use. That’s right, these guys will well and truly be going nuts with everything from spray cans to pain brushes and palette knives.

The audience is allowed to move around the easels to closely watch the process, and they (aka you) will be the ones to judge the winner. Blues band Alpha Stomp will perform live, and local DJ Master Wolf (aka Skinz) will MC the event to keep the paint-fight nice and fair. Art battles are huge overseas, and we’re pumped to see the Gold Coast City Gallery rolling this concept out – this one is a must-see. The event kicks off at 6:00 pm in the gallery. Head over here for all the finer details.
