Movie buffs, assemble! The 15th annual Gold Coast Film Festival is coming

The countdown is on for the 2017 Gold Coast Film Festival, with a jam-packed program set to screen 32 feature-films from 13 countries, including four world premieres, throughout the Gold Coast from April 19–30. Film buffs and movie lovers, prepare yourselves – this is going to be big.

The 32 films in the stellar program will be accompanied by a host of short films, events, panels and intimate Q&A’s with filmmakers. In total, there will be around 120 film and film-related events being held across the entire Gold Coast, from internationally acclaimed dramas to comedies and locally made indie gems. The Gold Coast Film Festival will kick off on Wednesday April 19 with a screening of fast-paced adventure film Pork Pie, which captures the story of a mis-matched trio of accidental outlaws, played by Dean O’Gorman (The Hobbit), Ashleigh Cummings (Puberty Blues) and James Rolleston (Boy). The festival will also feature the Australian premiere of sci-fi film SFV1: The Osiris Child on April 21, which will be followed by a Q&A session with director Shane Abbess and actor Isabel Lucas (Transformers, Daybreakers, Home and Away).

The Gold Coast Film Festival events also include a new activation at Robina Town Centre, which will see the space transform into a film-lovers haven with the launch of Documentary Season at Event Cinemas Robina. On Friday April 28, the centre will stage Brewed at the Kitchens – an evening of coffee demonstrations, espresso martinis, tastings and a unique film screening of Barista. The movie magic will also head south, with Coolangatta hosting a brand-new film event – Surf Classics at Coolangatta. The two-day free event will celebrate the swinging 60s and surf culture with nights of entertainment, competition and classic cinema. The Endless Summer will screen on top of the stunning Kirra Hill on Saturday 29 April, followed by a screening of family-favourite Surfs Up on Sunday 30 April. Pals, that’s just the tip of the iceberg – with over 120 events, this festival is jam-packed! Check out the full event program over here and start planning.
