100 Years of Ukuleles sure to strike the right chord

Whether you’re musically minded, serious about surfing, or just plain interested in having a swell time, 100 Years of Ukuleles is the event for you.

Back by popular demand, Surf World Gold Coast has announced a second ukulele night on Thursday June 4, entitled 100 Years of Ukuleles. Taking place at Surf World in Currumbin, the event will feature live entertainment from the Coolangatta Ukulele Club and a solo performance from one of the leading ukulele players on the Gold Coast, Chad Sheather.

The ukulele exhibition currently on show will be open to guests, which showcases early Portuguese and Hawaiian models dating back to 1915. The impressive display consists of rare and wonderful pieces that few would have been lucky enough to clap eyes on. The insightful surf documentary, Hawaiian: The Legend of Eddie Aikau, will also be shown on the evening, showcasing the life story of Eddie Aikau, the iconic Hawaiian waterman best known for the namesake big wave event held in his honour at Waimea Bay. Tickets are limited and can be booked online.
