For Tony and Tess, the Brisbane-based duo behind Tessa’s on the Beach, the Gold Coast, and more specifically, the southern Gold Coast holds a special place in their hearts. Etched in their collective memories as a backdrop for countless weekends away and sun-soaked days lazing by the beach, it was this inherent love for the coast that compelled them to take on the mammoth task of renovating a pre-loved 1960s motel that was in desperate need of some TLC. Fast-forward a year and the old girl has been completely refurbished from the ground up, and friends, it’s a work of art. Inspired by its mid-century roots, Tessa’s features a dreamy white-washed Palm Springs vibe with monochromatic earthy hues, cacti gardens and lush grassy areas. Split across two levels, each of the 15 gorgeously appointed rooms is furnished with simplistic retro-modern fixtures paired with beautifully vibrant flora, fauna and jungle-inspired feature wallpaper.

Situated on the absolute beachfront in Bilinga, Tessa’s on the Beach is the perfect launchpad for couples and small groups looking to experience life like a local. Just a hop, skip and a jump to Tugun and Coolangatta’s bustling dining precincts, which are best accessed by the hotel’s two-wheelers that are available to hire, there’s also an on-site bar, comfy lounge chairs, hammocks, sun lounges and a magnesium pool to ensure you have everything you need for an easy, breezy weekend away. Tessa’s on the Beach is now open for bookings, private events, weddings and photoshoots.
