Get a glimpse at the future of Tallebudgera Creek boardwalk following a $3.4-m upgrade
Tallebudgera Creek is many Gold Coaster’s definition of paradise. Following months of construction works, we’ve got our first glimpse of Talle’s new-look boardwalk following a $3.4-m upgrade. The extended pathway has been hailed the ‘final piece of the puzzle’ in Tallebudgera Creek upgrades. Take a look …
A new 4-m-wide boardwalk is set to double the size of the existing 2-m pathway, featuring new seating, lighting and a viewing platform for soaking in the incredible view. Underneath, new support piers and a small rock wall will be added to protect the area from erosion. The boardwalk will be the final stage of the program that has already delivered upgrades to the nearby training wall and Tallebudgera Creek Park, which was completed in February. The additions also include new public amenities, including a ‘Changing Places’ facility for reduced mobility access, upgraded barbecue and picnic areas, and improved landscaping.
Mayor Tom Tate said the ‘new and improved’ boardwalk will be the final piece of the puzzle in the Tallebudgera Creek upgrades. “Tallebudgera Creek is one of the coast’s most popular spots for locals and visitors,” he said. “The improvements are crucial to accommodate a growing number of people and improving safety and aesthetics, as well as reducing future maintenance and boosting protection against erosion impacts from floods, storms and king tides.”
Work on the boardwalk will soon begin, taking place Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm with access along the boardwalk and beach between Tallebudgera Creek Park and dog off leash area temporarily closed. A temporary detour via the Gold Coast Highway and nearby surf club is available during construction. The Tallebudgera Creek boardwalk project is expected to be completed in August this year.
