Clay creations meet caffeination at Kingscliff’s Stone Studio
If there’s one thing the cool kids are doing at the moment, it’s pottery. The creative practice is no longer an outdated pastime from the 70s – this time around we’re ditching the rainbow glazes and thinking dreamy neutrals, organic feels and (of course) small-batch roasted coffee.
One such place offering this modern clay vibe is Stone Studio. Located in the ever-evolving beachside gem that is Kingscliff, Stone Studio is an intimate pottery space that aims to share the joy of ceramics in a supportive environment. Led by passionate creative Jennifer, the classes welcome beginners and old hands alike and are limited to a maximum of six wheels to ensure that everyone is supported in their clay-throwing journey. No creative endeavour ever commenced un-caffeinated (so we’ve heard) and luckily you’ve got the option of local legends Therefore Coffee, Mayde Tea and Prana Chai in the studio cafe.
Those familiar with pottery will know that there’s no better meditation than stepping away from the scroll and getting your hands dirty. A community space that aims to inspire mindfulness, Stone Studio is friendly and inclusive, even boasting a studio dog, Scout. Whether it’s a solo session or a date night you’re after, the studio’s list of classes has something for everyone. If you prefer to make an event of it, we think the Vases and Vino ticks all the boxes. Sharing some sunset sips with your friends and getting back to basics with clay is our idea of a dream Sunday afternoon.
