Roll out a handwoven rug from Pampa

Pampa, based in Bangalow in the Byron Bay hinterland, explores Argentina’s most remote indigenous communities to unearth the finest rugs and cushions to grace your home.

Pampa is a collaboration between two photographers, one from Australia and the other from Argentina, and represents the coming-together of two worlds, two visions and two cultures. The pair aim to explore art, preserve heritage and empower culture by sourcing and selling textiles that are fairly traded with Argentinian artisans.

Every Pampa rug is a one-off piece and is handmade from fibre to finished product using high-quality wool that is shorn, carded and spun by hand. Natural dyes extracted from plants, flowers, vegetables, insects, minerals and smoke are used to colour the fibres and patterns are inspired by nature. Each rug is woven on traditional looms in a process that can take upwards of six weeks. Pampa rugs, cushions and fine-art prints are available online.
