Fill your home with unique treasures from Mabels
Mabels in Palm Beach offers an eccentric collection of odds and ends, from retro cushions to old golf clubs and navigational maps. The tiny space is a little bit like your cool aunt’s house that is filled with interesting nick knacks and smells ever so faintly of tobacco.
Nestled behind a gigantic Jacaranda Tree that fronts the Gold Coast Highway, Mabels is a joint project between Twahn from the neighbouring Small Stall and Matt from found. furniture in Tugun. The space is curated to offer a completely random amalgamation of bits and bobs that don’t quite fit the criteria for either store and is designed as a constantly changing retail experience.
As you walk in the tiny door, your eye is immediately drawn to the vintage bicycle that is suspended from the ceiling and the myriad of vibrant plants that hang from its frame and its surrounds. You turn to notice the old bed that is beautifully dressed in Fictional Objects bed linen and sits alongside a floor to ceiling bookcase that is lined with trinkets and original artworks by Bridget Kearney. Mabels is ultimately a concept store that offers a treasure trove of old and new and invites you to spend time absorbing and appreciating each piece and wondering about its origins. If you’re in the market for some new pot plants and outdoor furniture, Mabels is hosting a yard sale this weekend. See our Stumble Guide for opening times.
