Bundall welcomes Hillier and Skuse Gallery
Hillier and Skuse Gallery has opened its doors in Bundall and is providing a platform for local artists, showcasing more than 200 original works from 30 established and emerging local art makers.
Perfectly placed in the heart of the design and decor precinct, Hillier and Skuse Gallery encompasses traditional and contemporary, hyper-realist and abstract, large and small, two-dimensional and three, and is envisaged as a place where people can feel comfortable browsing. Whether you are an avid collector or just want to bring a room together with some great art, you’re bound to find something that takes your fancy among the contemporary collection.
The gallery is the realisation of a dream for Steve Hillier and Susan Skuse, who are both artists with many years of experience between them. The opening exhibitions are Ocean and Earth by Chris Seale and All about Earth by Mark Pryer. The local artists have taken very different approaches to the depiction of the natural world; Mark’s response is bold and powerful with broad gestural strokes and high chroma palette while Chris manipulates paint with a variety of implements, creating visually exciting textural surfaces. Her forest and ocean scenes are drenched with scintillating light, evoking a strong sense of place. The exhibitions will be on display until October 30.
