No surf, no worries – Parkwood set to score the coast’s first surf park

The Gold Coast is home to some of the country’s most famous surf breaks including Duranbah, Rainbow, Snapper, Kirra, to name a few. Soon, surfers will be able to add Parkwood to the list. Yes, you read right, the northern suburb is set to score a world-class integrated golf and surf resort, if proposed plans are approved.

The pain of heading out for a surf only to be met with lagoon-like conditions with not a wave in sight could be a thing of the past if Parkwood Village’s ambitious plan to construct the Gold Coast’s first surf park proceeds. ‘Endless Surf Wave Lagoon’ would sit alongside the Village’s existing 18-hole golf course, which would also receive a multi-million dollar spruce as part of the bold proposal. The beach-like lagoon would offer consistent waves to suit all abilities – from beginner to professional. Offering safe, predictable and quality waves up to 2.4 meters in size in a controlled environment, the Endless Surf Wave Lagoon would boast a natural shape that provides a large ‘beachfront’ for a genuine surf feel.

If approved, the Endless Surf Wave Lagoon will be manufactured by WhiteWorld – a Canadian-based wave pool and water park attraction developer that has also announced surf parks in La Vague Paris, Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic and Vietnam. The pool will be complemented by the existing golf course as well as an approved future resort and food and beverage facilities. It is hoped that by 2023, Parkwood Village will be an exciting sports and family venue. Keep your peepers peeled for updates.
