Burleigh Pavilion could be set to welcome a new wellness space and restaurant under a new proposal
Some exciting new additions could be in store for one of the Gold Coast’s most iconic buildings. A development application lodged with the City of Gold Coast by RPS, on behalf of Burleigh Beach Pavilion Holdings Pty Ltd, is seeking to create an indoor sport and recreation facility on the lower ground level of the beachfront landmark home to Burleigh Pavilion, The Tropic and Rick Shores. Here’s everything we know so far …
Burleigh Pavilion could be set to welcome a sizeable new wellness space complete with indoor pool, a steam room, sauna and yoga/Pilates studio as well as a brand-new restaurant if an application before council gets the green light. Under the proposed plan, two out of the three existing swimming pools and the gymnasium would be removed to make way for the wellness facilities. The venue’s new food and beverage outlet would join the building’s long-term tenant Rick Shores on the lower ground level and feature an outdoor terrace on the eastern side.
The plan also proposes a new entry point to be established to the east of the existing main entrance off Goodwin Terrace to allow access directly to the lower ground floor. The application also outlines the proposed hours of operation would extend from 5:00 am to midnight for the indoor sport and recreation space, and the food and drink outlet from 6:00 am to midnight, seven days a week. As always, we’ll bring you all of the details as they come to light.
